The chemical reaction/chemistry between hydrogen and oxygen

The chemistry between hydrogen and oxygen makes water.

Does the above sound right? Do i have to reword it as "The chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygem makes water?" Thanks.

You can probably use your second choice, but be aware that it's more like:
