The cheek of it!

Hi,

What does this mean?

I couldn't find it in my dictionaries.

Thank you in advance,

It was very impudent, it was very saucy, it was very sassy... do any of those words mean anything to you?

Dear Grammar Geek,

Thank you for your reply.

No, I found this expression in a novel and just wanted to know if it means anything.

Now I understand. Thank you,

I would say "the cheek of it!' as a response to something that someone did that was cheeky, naughty, or if they were trying to get away with something in a bare-faced way.

"Charging $20 for a jar of strawberry jam? The cheek of it!"
