The given pie charts illustrate the percentages of people recruited by age in the public sector in the UK between 2015 and 2020.
In general, the percentage of the 21-30 and 41-50 groups employed increased, the opposite was true for the three remaining groups – under 21, 31-40 and over 50.
In 2015, people aged 21-30 and over 50 shared the same percentage of employment, at 23%. The ratio of the 21-30 age group hired had a 10% upward trend, at 33%, highest in 2020, whereas, the proportion of employees aged over 50 recruited saw a decrease, from 23% to 16%.
When it comes to three remaining age brackets, there was a slight decline in the proportion of the under 21 group, from 14% to 12%. In 2020, the ratio of the 31-40 age group decreased dramatically, to 11%, in contrast, the employment of individuals aged 41-50 rose sharply around 10%, to 28%, second only to that of 21-30 group.
