The given chart compares the number of people all over the world who bought cellular phones from the top five mobile phone brands between 2009 and 2013.
Overall, it can be seen that a number of people who chose to buy mobile phones of Nokia or LG brand to use saw a downward trend. However, the opposite was true for Samsung, Apple, and ZTE brands.
By observing the chart, in 2009, a high number of people preferred buying mobile phones of the Nokia brand than the other brands, it sold about 430 million units while a number of products of Apple were the least sales in the top five mobile phone brands with about 30 million handsets. Then, in 2011, Nokia was the first rank in selling cellular phones with about 420 million units. In contrast, ZTE sold only about 60 million units which took the lowest position. And two years later, while Samsung rose to the highest position with 450 million handsets, ZTE just sold about 60 million units which was less than the other brands.
Regarding the chart, the number of people who bought cellular phones from Samsung and Apple brands tended to increase, in particular, Samsung sold about 230 million handsets in 2009 and it peaked at 450 million handsets in 2013, a number of people bought Apple’s mobile phones also increased from about 30 million units in 2009 to 150 million units in 2011. On the other hand, global sales of Nokia and LG tended to decrease. LG suffered a drop in sales but it was more gradual and global sales of Nokia hit their lowest point with 250 million handsets. On the contrary, while the other brands changed over four years, global sales of ZTE kept escalating from 50 to 70 million units, in 2009 and 2013 respectively.
