The Castle had a lot of security

Hello, could you please help me with these questions??

1) A) Someone wrote: "The Castle had a lot of security". I does not sound correct to me and I do not know why. I would have said: The Castle was full of security guards or The Castle has a lot a security officers... But I am not sure the original version is incorrect. I found in the Longman Dictionary: guards [uncountable]BBC the department of a company or organization that deals with the protection of its buildings and equipment:

One of the sales clerks called security.

B) The same person wrote: There were 12 people of security. Is it correc if I suggest that he should write:

There were 12 people FROM security.

There were 12 security people/guards

2) " I will tell you about the Birmingham Castle". Can we omit "the"? Are both correct?

Thank you in advance

1. "The Castle had a lot of security" is OK. It is a somewhat informal shorthand for the sort of things that you go on to say in your sentences.

  • "There were 12 people from security" is possible, but seems to suggest a deputation from the security department rather than just an enumeration of the security staff going about their usual business.

Thank you VERY much.

As regards number 2, I will let them write "The" or omit it. The titlle in the article says: Visit Oxburgh Castle, England.

I would have added "the" but as in the titlle it is not written, I will accept both. Do you agree?

thank you!

Probably not. The names of ordinary castles (big old fortified buildings) almost always do not need "the" (offhan
