(The) bus 210

Could you, please, tell me whether articles are necessary in front of the bus numbers?

"Take (the) bus 210 to get to my place."

Thank you

In this case, the article is optional. As a matter of style, I usually do not use the article if it can be omitted.

Hi,

I also have a question on this, If I may.
Can you say, take the 210 to get to my place?

Thank you.

Funny. "Take the bus 210 to get to my place" is not possible in my dialect. It's "Take bus 210 to get to my place" OR "Take the 210 to get to my place" OR "Take the 210 bus to get to my place." The number would be said "two ten", by the way.

It is in discord with a standard English grammar rule that says zero article is used before a noun if a cardinal number follows it:

Thanks for finding this rule, CB.
Using the article would be incorrect. It is not optional as I originally stated. I was wrong.

Hi,

Where I live, it's usually said as 'Take a/the 210 bus'.

Clif, am I right in thinking that both versions are correct?

Take bus 210 to my place
and
The a/the 210 bus to my place

Thank you

Hi,

Where I live, I don't hear people say #1.
