The Buffalo & the Goose

Following is a story translated into English. There are some part that need a native's touch! Your feedback is most welcome.

The Buffalo and the Goose

Once, a buffalo arrived at a lake and bent down to drink. A reflection of a flock of geese caught its attention, so it looked up and saw a flock in number 7 formation approaching (in the shape of 7). When the flock landed on the lakeside, the buffalo walked up to the geese and asked one of them, "Do you travel constantly?"
The goose lifted its head thanking God after quenching its thirst, and answered, "We travel according to the fluctuations in climate, and seek warmth wherever it is."
The buffalo asked, "But why do you always fly in number 7 formation?"
"Then how are buffalos arranged in a herd?" the goose inquired.
"We follow our leader," answered the buffalo. "We are known for being obedient, easygoing herds, as we are only concerned with following the leader to wherever he pleases, regardless of the walking pattern."
The goose replied in surprise, "You are only concerned with following your leader to wherever he pleases, but you do not care for your walking pattern?"
"Yes," the buffalo said. "We only care for obeying the leader of the herd. What about you?"
"We exchange leadership during our flights."
"Does this mean that all the geese can lead the flock?"
"Of course!"
"How come?"
"It is simple. As soon as downs appear on the wings of a gosling, it is trained for self-leadership."
"What do you need self-leadership for?"
"Because if all the geese do not master self-leadership, the flock will not be able to fly in number 7 formation."
"So this means you do not enjoy flying freely."
"If freedom means anarchy, then yes. You should bear in mind that the single goose is an integral part of the flock. If a single goose does not abide by self-leadership, the whole flock will go into disorder, and may not continue the journey in which it crosses large (vast) distances."
"Your life is difficult, no doubt. Order brings about (creates) complications."
"I think it is you are having difficulties!"
"Why is that?"
"Aren't you –inhabitants of earth- in greater need for order?"
"And what do you need order for while you have the spacious sky?"
"We need to fly in order because we believe the sky is not ours alone! Do herds of buffalo(s) live alone on this earth?"
"Of course not! There are other numerous and various living beings."

The goose looked at the buffalo rather surprised, then flew along taking its place in the number-7-formed flock that flew away high in the sky.

Since I heard that conversation between the buffalo and the goose, I have been asking myself: "To whom do I belong: the buffalos or the geese?"
