the broken/out-of-order computer

Thanks to John's help, I recovered my data from the broken computer.

HI,
Is it better to say "the out-of-order computer" instead of the broken computer in the above? Thanks.

No, 'broken' is better, I think. Nowadays, they use ' crashed ' (but that may be just for software).
