The boys' dormitory is opposite the girls' across the campus.

The boys' dormitory is across the campus opposite the girls'.

They all sound fine. Actually they sound excellent to the point that I wish I were back at school. The only difference I see is that 'opposite' conveys closer proximity than 'across the campus' Woo-Hoo.
