The box is has been open

hi,

while I was teaching, my student came up with this question about this sentence.

the box is has been open.

To me, it sounds awkward and i think the box has been open or the box has been opened is the right sentence.

While i was searching for the sentence like this there was a sentence involves is has been but has been in that sentence meant someone who enjoyed fame and polularity. someone who was famous but now the popularity declined.

so I would really appreciate is if you can help me with this sentence.

since i am not a native speakerm before i give an answer to my student i would like to ask to clarify this.

Thank you in advance
