"the birthday star"?

Hi,

If it was my friend's birthday today, then she would be the birthday person, or the birthday girl.

Can I say:
She is the birthday star.
?

"Birthday star" is a literal translation from Chinese.
Someone purposed it as a synonym for "birthday person."
I doubt it...

By the way, besides "birthday girl/boy," is there another noun phrase to mean "birthday person"?

Best Wishes,

I've never heard it, I know it isn't standard, but then it seems to make sense, so go ahead and use it, especially if the others will know that it's a direct translation from the Chinese.
