The best grammar book ever

A comprehensive grammar book is hard to find. I have many grammar book, but none of them go in the detail I would like. The best book I have is "Correct English" by William Tanner(published 1928)...I need another ( better !!) . Please help.

Hi, Industrious "A Comprehensive English Grammar", by Eckersley & Eckersley is a good book. It isn't a new book, and it isn't the most complete either; but it's easy to follow and covers the basic points of English grammar. If you're looking for a more "advanced" grammar, let me know?

Yes, I am looking for a more detail book. The books I have seen so far only cover the subjects superficially. I like the old grammar book because they really break things down.

Are you referring to "High School English Grammar & Composition" (isbn 8121900093 )? What is so special about this book?

The best grammar book I have ever seen is "longman's grammar of spoken an written english".The book is about $100/ but it's worth buying. If you have that book you, perhaps, won't need to worry about looking for a better one.

I feel no grammar book is comrehensive enough to accomodate all the nuances and nitty- gritty of grammar. Another problem that compound the situation is that good grammar teachers are rare to find. Have u found one?
