The beginning of a sentence...

I heard (from my Head of English Department) that we cannot use words such as "two", "three" (etc), "many" at the beginning of a sentence, is that true?

In that case, these sentences are wrong:
1. Two men robbed his house last night.
2. Many people attended his wedding last week.

Those sentences sound correct to me so please help. Thanks in advance.
