'the' before each word

Hello, Do we need to repeat the article "the" for each of the words separated by 'and' or 'or' in the sentence:

"But at the zoo in Rome, keepers are ensuring the lions and tigers stay cool by freezing their food in large blocks of ice."

"But at the zoo in Rome, keepers are ensuring the lions and the tigers stay cool by freezing their food in large blocks of ice."

Thanks

There are probably exceptions, but in most cases, I would definitely not repeat the article.
