The bar chart below shows the percentage of students who passed their high school competency exams, by subject and gender, during the period 2010-2011.

The bar chart compares how many students, divided into two groups by genders, graduated from high school in seven different subjects from the year 2010 to 2011 with the accessed data given in percentages.

Overall, the total amount of girls who studied computer science represented the highest whereas boys were most interested in Mathematics. Both the percentages of male and female students nearly the same in Physics and foreign languages whereas Chemistry was responsible for the lowest for boys compared to Geography for girls.

First and foremost, female students who graduated from high school with Computer Science subject headed the list at 56.3%, which is considerably higher than that of males by around 14%. However, the disparity between both genders become more comparable in Mathematics, foreign languages (including French, German and Spanish) and Physics in which the difference between then on the former two subjects was about 1% with more girls on both subjects at 49.2% as opposed to 47.4%. Likewise, 36.7% of girls completed the competency exams with Physics compared to only 34.6% for boys.

On the other hand, the number of boys who succeeded in the exam with Geography outnumbered that of girls with a pass rate of 30.4% and 20.1% in turn. Nevertheless, more than twice as many girls as boys achieved the competency exam in Chemistry, accounting for 30.2% and 14.1% respectively. In stark contrast, the proportions of both sexes differed in history with a quarter of girls finishing the exam with this subject while nearly a mere 23% of boys passed.
