The bank of a fish stream

What does the underlined part mean? Regardless of looking up a dictionary, the meaning isn't so clear, I'm afraid.

The old-growth trees have extremely long roots that help prevent erosion of the soil along the banks of the many fish streams.

Top answer

River banks are the raised land on each side of a river. I assume a fish stream is the same as a fishing stream. This means a small river that is a good place to catch fish.
