The ball broke the vase

Do we say,

(i) John felt bored of / to reading. He played with the ball and it broke the vase.

(It seems wong to me, am I right?)

(ii) John broke the flower vase when he played with the ball. He apologised for his wrongdoing about the vase. He promised to behave himself.

(i) John felt bored of/with reading. He played with the ball and it broke the vase.

(ii) John broke the vase when he played with the ball. He apologised for breaking it/the vase (for his actions) . He promised to behave himself.
