The analyses of the text

Half immortal, the protagonist is one of Amber's princes. He and his other brother Bleys is attacking Amber to occupy the realm his other brother Eric has ruled.
Now, the protagonist is leading the fleet and his brother Bleys his infantry units to Amber.
His other brother Rendom advise him to withdraw.

"Sorry," said I. "Can't. Too many losses involved in getting us this far. It's a now-or-never situation."
He shrugged, wearing a "Like, I warned you" expression.
"Why, though?" I asked him.
"Mainly because I just learned he can control the weather around here," he said.

I'd like to know "were" is omitted before "involved."
And I'd like to know what role "like" plays here.
