The analyses of a text #2

The narrator recalls his childhood.
He was forced to work for his own living for Mr. Murdstone's friend Mr. Quinion at London by his stepfather Mr. Murdstone.
He lodges at a house, the master of which Mr. Micawber is so very poor, and goes to his work Murdstone and Grinby's.
At last Mr. Micawber was imprisoned in the King's Bench Prison for his dept.

.......................................
There was a club in the prison, in which Mr. Micawber, as a gentleman, was a great authority. Mr. Micawber had stated his idea of this petition to the club, and the club had strongly approved of the same. Wherefore Mr. Micawber set to work at the petition, invented it, engrossed it on an immense sheet of paper, spread it out on a table, and appointed a time for all the club, and all within the walls if the chose, to come up to his room and sign it.
When I heard of this approaching ceremony, I was so anxious to see them all come in, one after another, though I knew the greater part of them already, and they me, that I got an hour's leave of absence from Murdstone and Grinby's, and established myself in a corner for that purpose.
[David Copperfield by Charles Dickens]
1. I'd like to know if "in" is omitted after "engrossed."
2. I'd like to know if "to come up" modifies "a time."
3. I'd like to know if them means "all the club and so many prisoners."
4. And I'd like to know what role "and they me" plays here.
Thank you in advance for your help.
