Nowadays, many people choose to study in foreign countries, which offer better education than their own countries. The new study environments bring many benefits and difficulties to individuals. In this essay, I will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of studying abroad.
Firstly, when the youth go to other countries to learn, they have to deal with all their daily problems by themselves. For example, they have to go shopping, cook their meals and wash their clothes. As a result, they would become more mature, have more independent in their future life. Secondly, many people believe that an overseas degree is more valuable than its local equivalent. For this reason, they can have greater opportunities in the job market and earn higher salaries.
However, they must also be faced with many difficulties. The first drawback is students who come from a developing country may find everything in developed countries extremely expensive, they have to pay an enormous amount of money for things such as food, accommodation and tuition fees. This would lead to a bigger financial burden on their parents. The second drawback is a significant difference regarding the culture between their living nation and their homeland. They feel the shock which can not connect with the surroundings, because of language barriers, public hygiene, traffic safety. Hence, they need a long period of time for their own adjustment to adapt with their new environment.
In conclusion, I think studying overseas have both the advantages and disadvantages. And all of disadvantages could be overcome, if students made a worth analysis before deciding whether to learn aboard or not.
