The activity

Hi

It's from a book about ghosts: This member of the household may be especially stressed out at the time of the poltergeist incidents. He or she may be dealing with some extreme, negative emotions. If this is the case, see that the individual involved gets some medical care, and soon afterward the activity is likely to subside.

--- What activity? Does it refer to negative emotions or the poltergeist activity? So when she/he goes to the doctor the poltergeist or negative emotions activities will subside?

Top answer

I take it to mean that the poltergeist activity will subside. Apparently negative emotions are conducive to an increased poltergeist activity.
