The accumlation of DNA damage is inevitable

The high metabolic activity of the liver determines that it will be subject to a variety of internal and exogenous attacks, such as hydrolysis, oxidation, spontaneous alkylation, ionizing and UV irradiation and so on, coupled with a variety of DNA repair mechanism decline, the accumulation of DNA damage is inevitable.

Hi, guys. I' am trying to write a paper in English. In this long sentence I write, is the last part correct? There is a weird feeling when I type this out, but I can't figure out why. Writing in English is so hard.

Thanks!

The part in bold is correct in itself, but "coupled with a variety of DNA repair mechanism decline" isn't (you cannot have "a variety of decline"), and the overall sentence structure is not right either. You seem to be essentially wanting to say something like "Because of X, accumulation of DNA damage is inevitable", but you have no "Because" or equivalent word to connect the two ideas.

The high metabolic activity of the liver determines that it will be subject to a variety of internal and exogenous attacks, such as hydrolysis, oxidation, spontaneous alkylation, ionizing, and UV irradiation and so on. Coupled with a variety of DNA repair mechanism declines, the ac

Due to its high metabolic activity, the liver is subject to a variety of internal and exogenous attacks, such as hydrolysis, oxidation, spontaneous alkylation, ionizing and ["and" here is correct: two types of irradiation] UV irradiation, and so on. Because DNA repair mechanisms decline with age, the accumulation of DNA damage is inevitable.
