The pilots were from the 509th Bomb Wing.

Is this the name of the troop?

Pretty much. "Squadron" might be more appropriate. I'd have to look it up to see where it fits in the organizational plan.

Is this the name of the troop? Basically, yes. I would expect 'Bomber Wing'.

Traditionally, at least in British terminology, a wing includes several squadrons, and a group include several wings.
