The?

Is it wrong to use “the” before society?

I want to make a contribution to (the) society.

One more question: Does it sound weird if I use “our” before society?

I want to make a contribution to our society.

teacherJapan I want to make a contribution to (the) society. Wrong, if you mean your human milieu. Of course, if it's the SPCA, then you're good.

That is possible, I guess, but "our" is a given. People will wonder why you added "our", unless you mean the SPCA

It's not wrong, but it has a different meaning. I don't think you intend this to be about a contribution to the Society for Creative Anachronism or any such organization, so you need to omit 'the'.
