Hello. I have two questions as to a song of "Eeensy -weensy spider".

Q1. Why does "the" need with "rain" ?

" Down came the rain, and washed the spider out."

Q2. Is "Eeency- weency" correct ? In some children's book,
it is also written as "Ency-weency" or "Eensy-weensy".
