That(this)is so kind of you to

Wow!! I should have known this great web site before. I am feeling so relieved to have found it. Today's question is That(this) is so kind of you to help me.Is this sentence is grammartically correct or just acceptable in spoken English, or it is so kind of you to help me is always right? Or there is a meaning difference between the two sentences?

Thanks in advacne and Happy New Year

You would use this when the kindness is actually in progress or when a kindness has already been mentioned in conversation or in a letter. You would use that when the kindness has been completed.
