That's what she said

Hi,

What do you think of 'That's what he/she said' jokes? Do you find them funny, annoying, childish?
Do they crack you up or do you go, "Umph, what are you, like, 14?"?

Thanks a lot
H.

- [answering the door] Would you like to come inside?
- That's what she said!

- I don't want to break up with him. We have so much history together. This is really hard.

I first heard them on The Office (US). I thought I'd get a grown-up perspective on them before I go around making a fool of myself.

I see no humour in that whatsoever. It seems more like a clichéd remark peculiar to the character in the TV show. Keep in mind that in the case of The Office in particular, the characters and scenes are funny precisely because they are not funny.

Well, there's a rather explicit play on words. Come inside, hard – that's what she said; if you see what I mean.

Then I suggest you avoid such 'humour' like the plague.

About the only environment in which they might not seem out of place is in a group of male adolescents, or maybe slightly older men who still act like adolescents.

Anyone else who tells those jokes (over 20 or female) will be considered pretty ridiculous.
