that's vs it's - confusing
Another dialogue from Lost. here it comes:
S: So how's the drink?
J: It's good
S: That wasn't a very strong reaction.
J: Well, it's not a very strong drink.
My questions are:
1) why is there "that" and not "it" in "That wasn't..." Couldn't I say: It wasn't a very strong reaction. ?
2) why is there "it's" and not "that's" in "well, it's not a..." Couldn't I just say Well, that's not a very strong drink. ?
What's the difference between it's and that's ?

S: That wasn't a very strong reaction.
J: Well, it's not a very strong drink.

As far as I know, it´s not a very strong reaction does not fit here because it describes an answer. it is not used in a context like this. Furthermore, they do not use that in the second sentence, because that implies that the object they are talking about is in some distance.

As far as I know, it´s not a very strong reaction does not fit here because it describes an answer. it is not used in a context like this.
