Isnt "ask" a verb which dont take a preposition after it..? Like " Dont ask me, I´m a tourist", however, there are situations where there is a preposition after it such as "The man asked me for a hundred pounds". Dont know if this was any help but.....

Often, these can be interchanged. However, here are a couple of comments to highlight the feeling I sometimes sense in each of these forms.

ask something from someone sounds like I want you to do something that benefits me.

eg All I ask from you is that you pay my rent this month.
