That was

Hi teachers,

It stoked resentment among tens of millions of people living on the edge of survival, among the young and educated who still could find no jobs - and among the military and secret-police establishment that was, for all the government's new business friendly technocratic veneer, the real foundation of Mubarak's regime.

1. Did the resentment also present among the military and secret-police establishment?

2. Does the sentence structure go like this, " ....and among the military and secret-police establish that was the real foundation of Mubarak's regime."?

3. "for all the government's new business friendly technocratic veneer" This part is introduced between "...that was" and "the real foundation of Mubarak's regime" I cannot understand its placement there.

Thank you very much

Hi Clive,

I'm sorry I forgot to ask one question: "that was" represent singular, but in the text, it's military (1) and secret-police esablishment (2), two things, that would have been "that were".

Thanks
