Can I use ‘that’ and ‘which’ in the same paragraph?
For instance:
“He scooped up all the papers that were lying on the table and threw them away. Nobody knew what got into him, but it must have been all the stress he had to deal with last week because of his new project, which was compounded by the fact that his wife had filed for divorce.”
Is it okay to have ‘that’ in the first sentence and ‘which’ in the last? Doesn’t it disrupt grammatical consistency?
