Hello, The pronoun which is used as a relative pronoun (a noun substitue used to introduce clauses) refers to animals and things. Which is often used in nonessential clauses, which are set off by commas and are not necessary to the meaning of the sentence: example: The patient has a large abdominal aortic aneurysm that is very large, which all his physicians and surgeon think should be repaired. The pronoun that is used almost exclusively to introuduce essential clauses(clauses that are necessary for the understanding of the sentence and not set off by commas).
