That is: usage?

Could someone check the following sentences and give comments about these sentences?

Does this sound natural? He likes me and that is cool.
If this sentence is correct, could it be written like 'He likes me and i.e. cool'.
If it is wrong, is it because that 'that' must have a noun as an antecedent?

Or would a native speaker say this phrase instead? It is cool that he likes me.

Can we avoid 'that is' by reformulating the sentence like this?
His liking to me is cool.

Definitely not. You can use i.e. to introduce an explanation, but not like that.

"It's cool that he likes me" is OK too. In speech, the contraction "it's" would normally be used.
