The words that and because in the following sentence seem to be incorrect. One reason that I think we should move to a kids-friendly neighborhood is because I will get to know more kids.

a) In the above sentence do I need the word that?

b) In the above sentence can I substitute the word because with that?

I dislike reason + because in one sentence. It seems pleonastic. This sounds much better to me:

There are some who would argue that 'a/the./one reason is because' is unacceptable. I don't think we need to go into that here, but the underlined 'that' is fine in:
