Thankyou & Thank you

Please can somebody tell me which is correct...thankyou or thank you? Does it depend on the sentence they are being used in?

Doesn't exist? Who says so? Thankyou has always been the correct form of thanking somebody, (in Britain) unless you are saying 'I wish to to thank you', which is obviously two words.

Some dictionaries give the single word as a noun, but most hyphenate the two words.

Published in Sydney Australia spells it as thankyou all one word, To day because most of all computer software comes out of the USA we only have the American way of spelling on our computers, young adult born after 1980 will most likely spell most words the American way.
