Thanks to those to help on the description of Healing a wounded wing of a bird.

The box had worked well until the bird gained enough leg strength to hop out. As it recovered, during the winter of that year, it tended to stay in the shoe box but didn't like much being covered with the lid over the box. When the lid was placed over the box raven wriggled out it surprisingly. My mother put some grass, hay, or leaves as bedding in its box and changed it when necessary. Raven soon recovered and started walking freely. I couldn’t remember its hoping over its box and leaving any dirt around. My mother gave a name to it: Black Boy. Ravens within a few months had been so used to us that it could stay in its nest without a flinch, couldn't try to escape when we approached its box. It would lie in its box constantly watching us cautiously. My mother would take care of it frequently; she would refresh its feed and water, change its bandages and do stretching and relaxation exercises to its wing to gain its strength.
