Thanks to

Hello Emotion: smile
Could you tell me please whether this sentence is correct?

1. Thanks to the studies (at the faculty) of German Philology, which I have completed, I have acquired a profound knowledge of the techniques and methods used in teaching.

I have also thought about rewriting the sentence in such a way:

2. I have acquired a profound knowledge of the techniques and methods used in teaching thanks to the studies of German Philology, which I have completed.

Does the expression 'thanks to' sound informal?
I would like my text to sound formal...

In your opinion, which version sounds better?:
Thanks to the studies of German Philology (...)
Thanks to the studies at the faculty of German Philology (...)

I would appreciate your help Emotion: smile
Thank you very much for all suggestions!
Best regards Emotion: smile

Hi, Here are a few comments. 'Thanks to' does not sound quite right there, and also sounds a bit casual. To say that you have a 'profound'.

Hello,
thank you for your help!
Philology students are taught that there is a difference between approach, method and technique, so I believe the division also exists in a school environment...
Thank you for your suggestion!
