1. Thanks to the studies (at the faculty) of German Philology, which I have completed, I have acquired a profound knowledge of the techniques and methods used in teaching.
I have also thought about rewriting the sentence in such a way:
2. I have acquired a profound knowledge of the techniques and methods used in teaching thanks to the studies of German Philology, which I have completed.
Does the expression 'thanks to' sound informal?
I would like my text to sound formal...
In your opinion, which version sounds better?:
Thanks to the studies of German Philology (...)
Thanks to the studies at the faculty of German Philology (...)
