Thanks and Regards

I do not see any issue in writing “Thanks and Regards” in signature .
Few of my colleagues said that “Thanks and Regards” should not be used as both the terms convey the same message and cannot be used together .

I was under impression that “thanks” is just to appreciate someone for the help and Regards to show respect towards the recipient.
I was trying to see results in Google ,but was not impressed with any logic which strongly approves that” thanks” and ” regards” cannot be written together.
