In this context are (1), (2) and (3) all acceptable?

I was trying to come up with a context where one would thank someone for what they have accepted to do in the future. I ended up producing an unnatural dialogue.

But in general, could one say: 'Thank you for doing that.' if another person has accepted to do it in the future? Doesn't 'Thank you for doing that.' imply that the favor has already been done?

No, there is no intrinsic time element, though of course we usually thank people after they have done it, not before.
