Can I say,

(1) The old woman was grateful to Peter and thanked (him) for helping her to cross / crossing the road. Later, Peter continued his walk / her way to school.


(2) The old woman was grateful and thanked Peter for helping (her) /thanked for helping her.

(3) The old woman thanked Peter's help. She praised him as a helpful boy.

(4) The old woman praised Peter for his help / helping.

(5) The old woman thanked for his kindness. She gave him some money for / as a reward.

(6) She thanked Peter for helping her crossing the road safely. Peter was happy because he helped people who in trouble.
