Thank you letter to professor for helping in job seeking
Hello guys,
Here's the situation. My sister (Sally) worked with this professor few years ago. She was a bright student and has good relationship with professor. She wrote an email to him asking for help to recommend me for a job in some of the firms where he is on board of directors. She had also attached my resume along. Professor replied positively that he will be happy to help. I assume he did that after going through my resume, and must've thought it's worth helping. My resume is quite alright I must mention, but I'm going through all this trouble because it's not easy to land a job abroad with resident visa there.
I want to write a follow-up email and I don't want to mess things up. English isn't my first language, and I'm not any good at this. Please go through the draft and help me make it better, either by additions or correcting grammar etc. (thoughts in brackets) ------- Dear Professor A,
I'm delighted to have received your email. (I'd like a better opening sentence here though)
Sally mentioned a lot about you (your guidance?). I wish I was your student based on what she told me.
I had graduated in Mechanical Engineering from ABC University, and am now working with Company A in CBA department. During my time I have developed deep rooted interest in QWE and developed passion to pursue a career in this field.
I would like to start career in ASD Industry anywhere in the world. I seek your guidance.
Thank you.
