Thank you for saying I looked good

You're talking to someone and they compliment you on your appearance. You then say:
"Thank you for saying I look/looked good"

I realize that "You said I looked good" would work, but I'm not sure if the "for saying" part means it's not reported speech anymore. Could I use "looked"?
