'Thank you for having interest in JoongAng Daily'

'Thank you for having interest in JoongAng Daily'

I read that phrase in a letter received by one of my friends and felt uncomfortable about it. I am not quite sure why, it just felt wrong grammatically. But then again I get false feelings of this sort quite often so I decided to ask 'EnglishForward.com'. Please give me your opinions on this phrase. Is it grammatically correct? If it is, then is it an idiomatic phrase?

Thanx guys ^^

I suppose strictly speaking it would be grammatical if you used 'thank you for having an interest in JoongAng Daily' but the usual phrase is 'thank you for taking an interest in ...'

You could also say

'Thank you for your interest in ...'
