1) a) 'caring about' means you wish nice things in your heart/mind (it may be expressed in useful actions, but could be as little as sending a text 'hope you get better soon'). b) 'caring for' means you do kind actions. 2) There isn't a "taking care about" in this context (certainly that I use) but there is "taking care of", which is like 1b.
