Thank you +

Hello,

A friend of mine asks me about below :

" Thank you very much. "

I think this expression seems to be from "Thank you much."

However I have never heard about "Thank you much."

" Thank you much." is possible?

If not, is there any special reason ?

Curious,

I think there is a reason. Here's a tentative theory of the grammar of "much". Others may have further insights to add.

The adverb much is only "non-assertive", i.e., it's used by itself only in questions and negations. a lot is the asse

I came to understand "Thank you" philosophy.

"Thank you" has many grammatical things!
