Thank you

Hey, nice page!

I'm probably going to ask a question others have asked before, but I couldn"t find a way of reading old posts, so here I go:

I study math at the TU Berlin and there ist this professor in the UK who works with my professor, who has just proved a nice little result remotely related to my work, so I wanted to send him a mail asking for the proof (I dont think he is going to publish it).

Now, my english is quite rusty and I am rather used to the more colloquial american english thant the refined british, but I don"t want to sound unfriendly so i need your help:

How can I say "thank you in advance" or smth like that? I mean, to show I appreciate he takes the time to even read my mail and maybe answer it?

"Thank you very much in advance" Emotion: smile

I'm British and I would accept 'Thank you very much in advance' although I would personally write 'Thank you very much in anticipation of your help' - quite formal or 'I would like to thank you in advance for all of your help' still formal but more friendly.
