Than/as

Are all of the sentence acceptable? If not, could you tell me the reason?

  1. He worries more than necessary.
  2. He worries more than is necessary.
  3. He worries more than it is necessary.
  4. The train might be late, as happened yesterday.
  5. The train might be late, as it happened yesterday.

User emsr2d2 said that "it" is inappropriate in #3 and #5, but I would think #3 and #5 are grammatically correct.
