Than women or than do women or then women do?

Hello everyone! "Men hold more positive attitudes than women." vs "Men hold more positive attitudes than do women" vs "Men hold more positive attitudes than women do". Are they all correct?
Thank you : )

They are all acceptable but probably 1 is not correct. If one were pedantic, there is an ambiguity if we understand it like this: men hold women; men also hold positive attitudes; men hold more of the latter than the former! Obviously, no one would really make sense of it this way, but they would be grammatically entitled to do so.

  • 2 is more formal than 3.
