Can one use:

instead of:
2-My shirt is cleaner than his shirts.

Can one use:

3-My computer is better than theirs.
instead of:
4-My computer is better than their computers.

I didn't notice 'shirt' in the first sentence, but 'shirts' in the second sentence.
