Than is usual, acceptable, etc

Hi,

1) use this about an amount, especially of food or money, that is larger than what is needed or expected

2) use this about rates, levels, measurements etc that are bigger than is usual or than is acceptable

I am not sure how to use "than is acceptable".

Please help me check if the following alterations are acceptable:-

"than what is needed or expected" to "than is needed or expected" in 1)

"than what is needed or expected" to "than needed or expected" in 1)

"than is usual or than is acceptable" to "than what is usual or acceptable" in 2)

"than is usual or than is acceptable" to "than usual or acceptable" in 2)

Thanks in advance Emotion: smile

"than is needed or expected" (instead of "than what is needed or expected")

"than needed or expected" (instead of "than what is needed or expected")

"than what is usual or acceptable" (instead of "than is usual or than is acceptable")

"than usual or acceptable" (instead of "than is usual or than is accept

As you have presented them, yes indeed-- and I much prefer the elided versions.
